Grid-based ASRS: The Product Offering Expands

The exponential increase in the number of players in the automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS) category using a structural grid is a testament to the rapid evolution of the logistics industry. At the trade show, several innovative companies stood out by showcasing their unique variations of these revolutionary systems:

Autostore

Founded in 1996 in Nedre Vats, Norway, Autostore has quickly established itself as a globally renowned company, operating in over 50 countries. Pioneering cube storage, they revolutionized the industry by offering the world's first Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS). This innovative system consists of five essential modules: robots, the grid, bins, the workstation, and the controller. These components offer nearly infinite modelling potential, paving the way for unparalleled efficiency and flexibility in warehouse and distribution center management.

Ocado

Founded in 2000 in Hatfield, England, the company has distinguished itself with its innovative system. While similar to others on the market, Ocado's products stand out for several notable features. Firstly, its robots are more compact, reducing the surface area required for deployment. Additionally, the option to integrate picker robots represents a significant advancement. These robots can coordinate with the grid robots to select and pack in up to eight different cells, thus offering increased flexibility and efficiency in order processing operations.

Log X

Based in Hungary, Log X stands out for its innovative approach in the field of logistics. By offering a system that is more affordable than its competitors on the market, it caters to a wide range of clients seeking efficiency and profitability. The approach adopted by this company focuses more on a conveyor-type system, thus optimizing handling and distribution processes. Within their warehouse, ''mini-load'' navigate narrow aisles to retrieve bins required by employees tasked with order packaging. These boxes are then deposited onto the conveyor, ready to be transported to the packaging station. This unique approach proves to be as effective as that of the competition but at a significantly lower cost. Undoubtedly, this company is emerging as a key player to closely monitor in this rapidly expanding category.

Exotec

Founded in Lille, France, in 2015, Exotec offers an innovative system based on robots that navigate freely within the warehouse along vertical and horizontal grids. These robots transport products to the warehouse employee station. An interesting feature is the ability to send products on convoys without requiring human intervention, demonstrating an advanced level of automation. What sets this system apart is the scale of its installation, often exceeding that of other similar systems. This scale provides it with impressive capacity and great flexibility in adjusting storage to meet the specific needs of each client.
